I went to the emergency room about three weeks ago and they said I have a 4mm kidney stone in my ureter just below the kidney. The doctor said there was fluid getting backed up into kidney. The stone still hasn’t passed. Will the kidney get damaged if I don’t get surgery right away?

Oh, yeah. Been there, done that! Get that stone broken up NOW! I can’t believe that they let you leave the hospital! That kidney is going to hypertrophy. Just think kinked garden hose. All of that back pressure is going to cause serious problems. There are a number of ways of getting that stone out. You’ll have anesthesia, so no problems.
4mm is possible to pass…if it was truly obstructing they would/should not have discharged you home
surgery is NOT the only alternative…
try FLOMAX…its a drug that relaxes the ureter and has been shown to ease the passage of ureteral stones
If you want to STOP screaming from the pain- you’re going to HAVE TO get that Stone out of there as soon as possible… There’s NO way around it….
if its not that big u can try drinking a lot of water it really helps other than that u should probably get a surgery
