i was diagnosed with kidney stones in 2005 dr says stones to small to do anything about ti. it is now 2008 passing a stone is excrutiating! they gave me flomax tot ake at home. i am a woman and fells like i have a urinary tract infection want to go pee all the time, sometimes i pee normal amount other times barely anything at all. But the pain in my back and abdomemn never went away only through vicoden. One stone is 5mm is that big?

I also dont have insurance and I havent been to the doctor yet because of that, even though i barely survive the pain. This is my first attact. I know I need to see the dr. but without insurance, i might as well die!!! especially with a $20,000 school loan i still owe.

You’re such a cutie! but you talk too much. I agree with you about dehydration. I’m passing one now, my 5th one this year. Gets very troublesome and painful but my only problem is no insurance. Am I the only one with this problem? I wish I was born in Canada.
well, i read somewhere that some stones are caused by phosphorus acid that is in most sodas, except root beer and cream sodas like big red.

Basically, Cipro is an antibiotic and Flomax helps the ureters to relax to let the stone to pass to your bladder. The feeling you are getting is probably that the stone is stuck. If it stays in too long it can do a lot more damage so they may have to have surgery to remove it.
After it’s passed, you’ll feel better rather quickly. It’s the stone you have to wait on…
Well, cipro is an antibiotic and flomax is a way of making the urter tubes larger to help the stone pass. I know i’m late, but if you are still in pain you will probably need a CT scan (cat scan) to see where the stone is so that you can have a possible surgery to remove.

how bout the pain you feel after passing a stone? my doctor gave me pain killers and muscle relaxers but the pain still hurts how long does it take for that “shredded up inside” feeling to go away?
what about later? i feel all torn up inside near my kidney area. i went to the emergencey room once, they gave me ciproflomax witch made the stone smaller and passable. after that i went back and they told me to take mad pain killers and muscle relaxers. im taken them but im still in allot of pain, how long does it take to heal after passing a stone?
yeah, “lithotripsy” is the method using ultrasound that gets rid of small/med sized stones.
If you imagine being punched *hard* in the ribs during a bout of renal colic, you can imagine how fun it is.

ive had 3 kidney stones is there anything you can do while your in pain. i read some were you drink lemonade or something helps with the pain
no, i haven’t… i think most carbonated sodas are pretty crappy for your system though so buyer beware on that front.
