Dr. Asha Gandhi President (2015-16)

Its vivid in my memory when as a teenager undergraduate student I put my steps in Lady Hardinge Medical College nearly 43 years down the lane, and today I feel proud privileged to be the President of LHMC Alumni Association in the most awaited year of Centenary Celebration of our Institute. I have been associated actively with my alma mater since 1979 when I joined as Junior Resident in Physiology, and assisted Dr. S H Singh, popularly known by the students as Dr. Sweety Singh, who used to organize Old Students Annual Meet in the month of March every year. Old Students Association was renamed LHMC Alumni Association in February 1995 which got registered as a society . The main objective of LHMC Alumni Association was to make life members of the association, to publish directory of life members, to generate funds for starting scholarships, to start scientific orations and to honor silver jubilee batch . Soon felicitation of Golden Jubilee batch, award to meritorious students and various welfare camps were also added. In this Association I worked as Joint Secretary, then Secretary, Executive Member and later on Vice President under the able guidance of our former Presidents of the Association: Dr. Krishna Garg, Dr. Promila Bajaj, Dr. Praveena Sachdeva, Dr. Sharda Jain, Dr. Amita Rawat, Dr. Suneeta Mittal, Dr. Shipra Paul and Dr. Shashi Raheja.

Dear Hardonians, the year 2015-2016 is being celebrated as Centenary Year, as our prestigious Institute is basking in the glory of completing a 100 golden years. Celebrations are already on full swing by the Institute as well as LHMC Alumni Association. Dr. Chandrama Anand, Dr. S H Singh, Dr. Usha Saha have made generous contributions to the Association for Centenary Celebrations . This year Prof. Parvin Sinclair d/o Dr. Seeta Sinclair made a donation of Rs. Six lacs for two running scholarships on means cum merit basis.

Friends, till now the total life memberships of the LHMC Alumni Association has approached 1513. The old saying goes “ the more the merrier”, it will be very much appreciated if more Hardonians join as life members so that they can enjoy all the benefits and activities organized by the Association during the Centenary Year and there after.

All the life members are also requested to give wide publicity to other non member alumni with whom they are in contact to become life members, and also contribute generously for the Centenary Celebrations and welfare activities of our prestigious alma mater; and reaffirm and reconfirm our determination to continue to move forward with greater commitments for the coming years.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2015. Hope to see you in the various activities organized by our esteemed Association during the Centenary Celebration Year to bring glory to our alma mater.
